Moleskin:

The orange streetlight pierced through the tangled branches of pine and scrub oak casting a messy shadow on my chest. It was early spring of last year and I was standing in my driveway shortly before 5:00 am. The sense of being overwhelmed with life was real. A lot had been going on, a change in work, providing for a family, commitments to church, and all the normal stuff that comes in a man’s life had really taken its toll. I knew I needed some advice, some encouragement, some help with what to do and the one person who was always good for that was pulling out of my driveway, my Dad.

The Lord has blessed with great parents. My Dad has always been there for me giving me wisdom and encouragement while constantly pointing me to Christ. When he is around, everything is going to be okay. But he was leaving. I knew I could talk to him on the phone if I needed him, but that is different than when he is present with me.

“Try and link up with some other men who have gone through the same things in life, Son. It will be an encouragement and you’ll find a lot of wisdom there.” My Dad had told me a few days earlier.

I had known about F3 for a long time but had forgotten about it. Until I started working with McFly and Bullseye. The seas of life had calmed down but I knew I still needed a place to find some wisdom and encouragement. So out of the blue one morning I made my first post. I was met with a classic game of Taco, Cat, Goat, Cheese, Pizza led by Dockers. I left feeling sore and tired but happy. My M knew it as soon as I walked through the door. F3 was going to be a good thing for me mentally, physically, and spiritually.

I know there has been a lot of BBs on brotherhood and the importance of being with a group of men. I don’t want to make another generic post about that, but I do want to echo it.

Your post counts… It really does. I wish I had the time to give examples of each of you have impacted my life and made me better. You probably don’t think you have, but you have. When you show up, it encourages me and those around you even if it is not said. We all go through tough times in life. We need each other for strength and encouragement to be better. So, keep showing up and encouraging those around you. Your post counts.
