Neo lead us out.
I was a Murph neophyte until this morning; and one can rightfully argue that I still am because of the modifications. I am okay with that. I started this off with “what inspires you?” Certain things inspire different emotions for me. My patient wife encourages me to be a little less tightly wound, my kids remind me that it is okay to be scared or apprehensive about the unknown. But it is events and workouts like this that inspire me to NEVER give up. Did I want to give up on the burpees today? You are damn right I did. Could I have quit on the ‘Merkins without anyone knowing but me? I am sure I could have. But I don’t want to cheat myself, or cheat the fine men that put their heart and soul into this workout either. I came across this article in the most recent version of Men’s Health (download below), and it moved me to be reminded of the man that Mike Murphy was. I was also reminded of the men and women who fight for the luxury we have to live in the greatest country in the world. So today, and many days, I am inspired by Mike Muprhy, Danny Dietz, Matthew Axelson, Marcus Luttrell. I am inspired by their heroic stories, and all the stories that we don’t get to hear that are just as bad ass.
