The FroYo….

Sixteen Pax, took the Daily Red Pill (DRP) this morning and got better for it.

The Pax: Mama’s boy, Mayor, Gump, Hip bone, Josey, CPT D, Chitwood, Scout, Witch Doctor, Berry, Napalm, T-Bone, El Diego, Aruba and the man of the hour FroYo. (Q: Squirrel)

The Scene: Still a bit chilly

WarmUp:  Arm Circles, Goofballs and SSH

The Thang:  Continuing with the concept of celebrating our local HIM (and not some unknown Hero) we did “The FroYo”

We moseyed to Left field and proceeded to bearcrawl to right field staying beside the outfield fence.  Yes…the whole fence line.  Some of the Pax may recall that FroYo gift he gave to us last year.  You’re welcome Chitwood.

Jogging over to Camelot we got right to the 10:45’s.  10 of you may remember these numbers from a February FroYo Q.  Cpt D will kinda get the quote right, Naplam will mostly get it and McFly will nail Mark 10:45.  The key verse for Mark.

  • 10 row-ups, 45 merkins
  • 10 row-ups, 45 squats
  • 10 row-ups, 45 Dips

Rather than focus on pull-ups (which we all suck at) YHC figured we’d row.  Then we sauntered to the brick pile

  • Aquaman w/ bricks
    • As a Civil Engineer by trade we focused in on some hydro-type exercise

  • Well those sucked so we did a few without the bricks
  • 4-count merkins (Down, Out, In, Up)
  • 20 Magnolia’s (aka the man maker)
    • Magnolia leaves are dang near indestructible and being FroYo’s first child she’s made a man of him
  • Goofballs w/ bricks In Cadence (IC)

  • Clementine’s (similar to an 8-count Burpee, with bricks) IC
    • Since clementines, the fruit, can be separated iinto 7-14 segments YHC figured there must be 8 parts to FroYo’s beautiful Clementine. (1) a brilliant mind, (2) Strength, (3) Perseverance – which can be rough on parents when the child wants their way, (4) Adaptability, (5) Creative, (6) Curiosity, (7) Tenacity and (8) a heart for her Mom and Dad
  • Kathleen (aka the Wheelbarrow)
    • One of FroYo’s favorites. Usually done at the outdoor theater of the Sunrise…
    • Who wouldn’t listen to her wisdom and follow her up life’s mountains? I mean Proverbs 3:13-18 says, that wisdom is a tree of life and we’re blessed when we hold her feet. Catch that?  Hold HER feet.

Oh. Nevermind.  After reviewing that scripture I see it says to hold her fast…not her feet.

Finish it up with 10 reps of everything & once we start we don’t stop

  •     Crunch
  •     Hold at top for 10
  •     Table Crunch
  •     Hold at top for 10
  •     Legs up, toe touches
  •     Hold at top for 10
  •     Open legs in a V & crunch in between legs
  •     Crunch & hold for 10
  •     Right knee in – Left leg straight crunch
  •     Crunch & hold for 10
  •     Right knee in – Left leg straight crossover crunch
  •     Crunch & hold for 10
  •     Left knee in – Right leg straight crunch
  •     Crunch & hold for 10
  •     Left knee in – Right leg straight crossover crunch
  •     Crunch & hold for 10
  •     Table top march (10 heel touches ea side)
  •     Table top run
  •     20 WWII situps OYO

FroYo wanted to do one more round of Goof Balls, so the Q obliged.  Although FroYo apparently doesn’t like Goof Balls with bricks.

Finished it all off with one exercise FroYo brought to the pax some time ago….Moroccan Night Clubs

Announcements/Prayer requests:

  1. FroYo mentioned the Tobacco Road Relay that’s coming up. Sat – Apr 30, 2022.  Looking to gather up a posse of 6 runners or two teams if able.  No more than two legs and it’s one day. https://www.raceplace.com/events/113187/tobacco-road-relay
  2. Prayers of Thanksgiving for Chitwood’s father who turns 80 today.  What a joy to hear a man speak so highly of his father!
  3. Gump from the Foothills region let us all know his M was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and they don’t know the way forward.  Would any of us?  As men we would want to jump in and fix it, fight it for her….but we can’t.  Gump, allow her to talk about it on her terms, be strong by her side and do the simple things as it’s needed.

What Gump announced to a group of relative strangers…yet brothers…makes F3 great.  He wasn’t shy about what was happening in his and his wife’s life.  He came to us as confidants, as friends he just hadn’t met until today.

We all laid hands on Gump and Chitwood led us out in prayer

MOLESKINE:  FroYo

Your Humble Correspondent has often written about hero’s outside of F3 Sandhills and thought, why not write something about these men who have impacted my life so greatly?  Every once in a while, you meet a person who radiates joy.  They glow with an inner light.  We all know someone like this.  He’s one of the F3 Sandhills Pax….FroYo

I mean, this is no news flash to any of us but in case others are reading…he is kind, tranquil, delighted by small pleasures and grateful for the large ones.  Oh, don’t worry, he’s not perfect.  FroYo gets stressed and exhausted.  He makes errors in judgement and yet…he lives for others and not for himself.  If you’ve talked with FroYo for any period of time, you’ll have heard him say Magnolia or Clementine or Kathleen.  He has an unshakable commitment to his family that is driven from his faith!

Here’s another peek behind the curtain for our Mr. Jones.  He knows why he’s been put on ‘dis Erf.  There have been times I have seen the utter exhaustion in FroYo’s face due to his tireless work in college, aside from two small kids and a full-time job…and I saw it during the GrowRuck.   And yet, he shines with a deep satisfaction from doing or working toward what God has called him to do.  Life ain’t easy, and it definitely isn’t easy for FroYo.  If you ask him, he’d say, “oh it’s not so bad” or “lots of others have it worse.”  Am I lying?  Humble to the core.  As you get closer to God or are working your way to Him Satan does all he can to make you stumble.  That trickster puts all kinds of blocks in your way.  So, yeah, you can bet life ain’t easy for Fro.

For those who worship with FroYo or have seen him in action within the community you know he has often taken up other people’s burdens so they wouldn’t have to carry them.  Yet, there’s a serenity that shines from within, a settled resolve. There is no grumbling or grousing, resentment or reluctance.  FroYo takes these on with a smile and words of encouragement.  He Is our Sunshine Bazooka.

If you haven’t taken the time to speak with FroYo, do yourself a favor and set up a lunch with him.  When you are in his presence there are no distractions.  It’s as if you are the most important thing in his hemisphere right then.  For me, it creates a feeling of being cherished and known.

A bit of scripture came to me as I was thinking of Matt.

If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.

~Romans 12:8

FroYo has all of those gifts!

I speak for myself when I say I’ve been watching FroYo over the past few years and I’ve noticed how consistent he is with what he says and what he does.  His Christianity is real and he lives it out.  I’m sure others within the Sandhills Pax would agree with me on all the above.

FroYo you continue to inspire me (and others) to do the right thing because of your example.  Thanks for doing life together with us.

Aye!
