Ruck Event

Shouldering the Load

Date: 3/30/2018

QIC: Bourne

PAX: 3 Rivers, Witch Doctor, Mel, Mad Bum, Chitwood, Colt, McFly, Bourne

Eight pax gathered in the gloom on this Good Friday and got better.

Warmup:

After a quick lap around the park, the pax gathered in the parking lot for:

15 IC CP, 15 IC GM, 30 IC Monkey Humpers (why did we do more than 10 of those?), 15 IC Imperial Walkers, and 15 IC AC/FJ. Once complete, the pax hit the woodline to acquire a block for the second part of the warmup by the spashpad.

Warmup extended:

The pax performed the following exercises every minute on the minute (EMOM) for 12 minutes. Once the reps were done, the remainder of each minute was recovery.

-30x SSH

-12x Thrusters w/ block (it was originally 10, but Mad Bum was feeling saucy and did extra, so we went with it)

-30x LBC

-30-sec handstand hold or balls to wall

Thang (finally)

Good Friday marks the day of ultimate sacrifice and one of the most recognizable verses to that end is John 3:16 –

For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.

So, the following workout is made up of 3 exercises of 16 reps each.

18 minutes of:

-16 Merkins

-16 American Hammer pairs

-16 Squats

Kicker: Every minute, the pax stop where they are and complete 5 burpees, then pick up where they leave off.

This is yet another example of a workout that looks a lot better on paper than when put into practice. About halfway through, YHC was quietly asking why he had been forsaken!

BOM: Chitwood led us out in prayer.

Moleskin: It was great yet again to see some old familiar faces. Also, how many times has Mel been EH’d by Froyo only for the workout to be yogurt-free?? Mel was promised yogurt and there was no yogurt! We missed you, Froyo.

On a serious note, let all of us shine a spotlight on the ultimate sacrifice that was made on our behalf to free us from our sinful selves. We all struggle in this life from time to time, but if we keep the big picture in focus, we discover that no matter how hard it gets, God is with us and loves us. We have already won. The link below will take you to a story that I have heard or read many times. You may have as well, but it is more impactful each time I hear it. I hope it is for you.

Bourne sends.
