Pounds and Kilos with Rafiki

On a beautiful evening, 5 men gathered at the F3 Piranha AO to celebrate 4/20 and their freedom from chemical dependency. The Q led the PAX through a challenging and creative workout, using bricks to add an extra level of difficulty.

The PAX: Wrecking Ball, Blackbeard, The Dude, TRIPLE D (FNG), & Rafiki, YHC & Q

Warm-up:

The PAX started with a quick warm-up consisting of:

  • SSH x10 IC
  • Grass Getters x10 IC
  • Imperial Walkers x10 IC
  • Hill Billys x10 IC

The Thang:

The Q explained that the workout would consist of a series of exercises, all using bricks. The PAX would complete each exercise in cadence before moving on to the next. The exercises were:

  • Break it up (20  arm flutter kicks with bricks in hand)
  • Roll it up (20 arm circles with bricks in hand)
  • Puff Puff Pass (2 overhead presses with brick [puff puff] and a burpee [pass on the down] in cadence 5 reps)

After completing each exercise, the PAX would mosey with bricks and repeat the same exercises 4 times IC.

The Q then led the PAX through a series of additional exercises, including:

  • Long Slow Flutter Kicks x20 IC
  • 4 Count Merkin x10 IC
  • LBC x20
  • Heels to Heaven x10
  • Step-ups x20
  • Hello Dollies with bricks x10 IC
  • WW2 Sit-ups x20
  • LBDs x20
  • Derkins x10
  • Mosey with bricks between each set of exercises

During the final moments of the workout, the PAX rallied together to complete the motivator. However, one member fell out of cadence, resulting in a penalty of 5 burpees for the group. The PAX quickly regrouped and finished the motivator strongly and in unison.

COT:

The Q reminded the PAX of the importance of staying free from chemical dependency and congratulated them on their commitment to a healthy and active lifestyle. The PAX shared intentions, prayers, and words of encouragement before ending the workout. The entire Piranha PAX has been invigorated and plan to keep coming back.

Overall, the “4/20 Celebration” workout was a challenging and fun way to celebrate freedom from chemical dependency. The use of bricks added an extra level of difficulty and creativity to the workout, pushing the PAX to their limits. The combination of cardio and strength exercises, along with the in cadence counting, provided a well-rounded and intense workout that left the men feeling accomplished and stronger.

Moleskin:

During my teenage years, I was convinced that being a stoner was the epitome of cool. My friends and I would spend our days getting high, skipping school, and chasing after the next high. Unfortunately, my experimentation with drugs quickly escalated to stronger, more addictive substances, and I eventually dropped out of school and turned to drug dealing in order to support my habit. This reckless lifestyle ultimately led me to jail.

Looking back now, I realize that my journey began with my initial experimentation with marijuana, which served as a gateway drug to a life of addiction and turmoil. Despite my struggles, I held onto the misguided belief that smoking weed could serve as a means to escape from the clutches of harder drugs. Of course, this proved to be a misguided and dangerous approach.

In the end, true freedom from addiction could only be found through a spiritual awakening. This realization has been a powerful one for me and for many other members of the Piranha group. Through challenging ourselves physically and mentally, and by holding each other accountable for our actions and choices, we have been able to overcome the grip of addiction and embrace a life of sobriety and clarity.

AYE!
