New Year, New You

4 PAX answered the call for the first PFT of 2022 this morning, took the DRP (daily red pill), and got better for it.

At 5:30 AM, the skies parted, the rain stopped (mostly), the wind was at our backs (half the time), lightning was infrequent and safely in the far distance, and the temperature was a balmy 62 degrees (the warmest it will be all week).  A great way to start the first week of the New Year!

The Pax: Poacher, Josey, and Neo.  Captain D, Aruba, Bourne, and Flying Tomato were also doing their own thang at the track.

QIC: Meat Sweats

Warm Up:  Box Trot 2 laps. Arm Circles, Grass Getters, Imperial Walkers, Finkle Swings, and Floor Sweepers.

The Thang:

In celebration of Epiphany (arrival of the three magi with gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh for the newborn king) this week, YHC delivered three gifts.

Gift #1 Gold: Reverse Indian Run

3 laps. PAX runs facing forward to ensure safety. Rear PAX, 1 by 1, runs in reverse to front of line. Once in front, lead PAX faces forward. Last PAX in the back faces rear and continues the run to front. Repeato.

Gift #2 Frankincense: Spartan

PAX line up and sprint 100 yards, do 10 merkins at the finish and walk back to the start all together. Q starts each sprint race with a verbal call. Continue until you have done 10×100 yards = 1000 yards of sprints and 10×10 = 100 Merkins.

Gift #3 Myrrh: Scout Run

2 laps. Same basic idea as Indian run. PAX form a line and set a decent pace. The front man takes off forward in a sprint to a self decided time or landmark.  Last PAX sprints ahead, repeato.

Moleskin:

Three more gifts (quotes) to start off the New Year:

“Be at war with your vices, at peace with your neighbors, and let every new year find you a better man.”— BENJAMIN FRANKLIN

“I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You’re doing things you’ve never done before, and more importantly, you’re Doing Something.” –Neil Gaiman

“Eighty percent of success is showing up” – Woody Allen

This one’s for you, @Chitwood and the rest of the PAX in fart sacks this morning!

Prayer Requests:  Poacher’s sister-in-law, Deborah’s cancer continues to spread.  Johnson family, especially for their boys recovering from a car accident.

Announcements:  2022 Personal Goal Setting, this Wednesday, 6-7 AM, Southern Pines United Methodist Church.
