MOLESKINE:

For the third week in a row F3 Sandhills came at the IronPax Challenge st-rooong!  Through the effort put forward by all I hereby dub you with this (soreness) badge of honor for the week.

Putting forth effort, it’s the opposite of “effortless success.” There’s only one guy I know who preaches effortless success who actually does it, and his name is Deepak Chopra.

But here’s the thing. When he says effortless success, he does not mean effortless as in “You don’t have to do anything, the universe will just do it for you,” because you know what? He has a team of about 100 employees that work for him so yes, effortless success, but effortless for who?

There are differences between effort and struggle and struggle-bustin’. What are they?

Effort is a natural exertion of personal will toward a goal. We all need to make an effort in every area of our life …Life doesn’t just provide us with food and shelter as a natural right. It’s what we do in the Gloom.  We get after it.  We push ourselves to be better physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Struggle is an added push born out of fear. Maybe the fear of not surviving, of dissolving and disappearing, not just as a flesh bag but mentally as well.  Struggle won’t get us the things we want most – love, meaning, freedom from anxiety, inner-contentment exactly as we are.

            Struggle-bustin’…this is struggle plus worry.

Most people are used to struggling, like that’s normal, but my brothers let me be clear…things don’t need to be a struggle.  Things can become easier after you’ve put the effort to make it come easy.  Wanna have an easier time doing pullups?  Do more pullups @Chitwood.  Wanna do Burpee’s faster?  Do more Burpees faster @Squirrel.  Let’s keep our foot pressed on the Accelerator, (not floored @MadBum) and go nice and steady and turn struggle into effort.

Where’s your recent struggle? What’s the emotion behind the struggle?

Aye!
