FLO….Cat 2

OMG you can’t make this stuff up.  Facebook page for the National Hurricane Updates issued a warning regarding certain zones where bad damage may occur as Hurricane Florence hits. It was all very weather-y and science-y, that is, until you notice the graphic (I’ll push the link on GroupMe).

Yep, NC is going to take a pounding.  Maybe we’ll just get the tip, like the model projects….who knows. Landfall may occur in/around Morehead city.   And the hits keep coming.  Ok, ok, I could keep going but YHC wants to TRY and keep this clean.

19PAX answered the call this morning and got a lot better because of it.

MOLESKINE:

Psalm 46:1; God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in times of trouble.

Today we battened down the hatches, filled our bath tubs, took objects off of porches that may become lawn darts and are waiting for Hurricane Florence.  Flash joined us to escape to “higher ground” (after the BRR it seems a bit odd calling the sandhills higher ground).  It’s what we do, right?  Prepare?

We call up reserves and friends, we get kits together thinking of scenarios, we gas up the vehicles (or have our sons do it), we call others to make sure they are ok and make sure everyone is on the same page in coordinating resources for the storm.

Take courage, my friends for God is with us all in the storms; the one raging outside, the one raging in our relationships, the one raging in our hearts.

The last part of the previous sentence reminds YHC of a Cherokee story passed through the generations:

“A fight is going on inside me,” the Grandfather says to the boy.

“It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil – he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.” He continued, “The other is good – he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.

The same fight is going on inside you – and inside every other person, too.”

The boy thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?”

The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”

Especially during this time where folks are freaking out, worried, scared.  Let’s be a light to others….let’s feed our good self! And if/when we get into freak out mode, we have God to lean into and let him be our comfort, our strength, our protector and our sustainer.   Oh, and you can always call on the fellow pax for help too.

Aye!
