Blast from the Past, with a Twist

Twelve Pax took the DRP this morning and got better.

The Pax: Scout, Mad Bum, Napalm, Berry, Captain D, Chitwood, Flying Tomato, T Bone, Meat Sweats, Aruba, FNG Chris (Noonan) and Roadhouse (Q).

The Scene: Warm and moist, great environment for a beatdown or bacteria!  With the orange cones set on the field, there was much anticipation from the PAX on what old Roadhouse had planned.

Warm-up: Side straddle hops, good mornings, seal claps, arms up and over, tempo squats.

By this time there was much mumble chatter about the length of the warm-up, so we moseyed over to the coupon pile and got ourselves some bricks.

The Thang:

  • 150 Curls
  • 125 Long Slow Flutters
  • 100 Z Press (overhead press while sitting on your can)
  • 75 High Pulls
  • 50 Front Raises
  • 25 Busters (Burpee plus a Thruster)

Bonus – Every 25 reps, run to the cones, do 3 burpees, run back and continue working.

Some of the Pax remembered this blast from the past from the IronPax Challenge 2021.  Being kind, old Roadhouse reduced the numbers of reps.  Again, being kind, old Roadhouse also swapped out those heavy, cinder blocks for some nice, light, bricks.  FNG Chris hung in there like a champ and the work certainly cut down on the mumble chatter.  One big takeaway, next time I’ll start with the Busters so everyone has a chance to enjoy them!

Moleskine:

Da Vinci said “Iron rusts from disuse, stagnant water loses its purity, and in cold weather becomes frozen; even so does inaction sap the vigors of the mind.”

This got me thinking, we are pretty good at sharpening the iron of the body and based on comments in GroupMe we have some real intellectual types too.  I’ll admit, I have a goal for this year to read at least one book per month and so far, I am on track.  I too have gotten sucked into the Wordle hype and also enjoy the geography spin-off, Worldle.

What do you do to keep the mind sharp?  Sound off in GroupMe!

Aye!!!
