Bearway for Chitwood…where was he?

Who:  5 PAX came to get better at the Stronghold:  Snake, Waldorf, Schlitz, McFly, Quatro

QIC: Quatro

The Scene:  Perfect morning, not too hot and not too cold.  Full moon too.

The Thang:  Normal warmup lap around the block followed by basketball court warmup exercises in cadence (SSH, Arm Circles w/flap jack, windmills, cotton pickers and imperial walkers).  

Then headed over to New York Ave. for a Jacobs Ladder.  Run up the hill 7 burpees, run down 1 four count merkin.  Rinse and repeat up and down seven times until it was 1 burpee and 7 four count merkins.

Next went to the parthajohn for some people’s chair wall sits (regular, sun god and Cusak varieties) and mixed in some incline merkins, decline merkins and squats.

Finally we saved the best for last with the ever popular Bearway to Heaven.  As the song played we did A LOT of bearcrawling along with some burpees.  It was at this point most of the PAX was ready to curse this choice of exercise, but we all got better for it (maybe).

Ended with some core exercises (LBC, Low Slow Flutter and Supines) until we were saved from future misery as the Gumby crew walked over.

Moleskine:  First it was great to see McFly back out there doing what he does, leading the way and providing an example for all PAX.  After being under the weather, McFly quickly showed on the Jacobs Ladder that his lungs and strength were back to normal.  McFly and Snake both smoked this aspect of the workout, Tclaps to them both here!

Second, the main reason I did the horrible Bearway to heaven was that Chitwood joked earlier that he knew my Q would have bearcrawls, so I had to oblige.  Sadly, Chitwood was absent this morning, but his motivations were endured by the 5 PAX who did the horrible bearway.  However, Chitwood’s comment got me thinking and he was absolutely correct as to the exercises that always seem to appear when I Q.  I am terrible at upper body, pullups and related exercises, so I tend to Q what I like and am better at:  cardio, running and bearcrawls.  It made me realize that I need and we all need each other to get better.  I will not improve on my weaknesses if I only do what I like and am better at.  I need the mix of strengths from the PAX to be challenged to do exercises I hate or am not good at.  It makes me better.  Left to my own devices, I’ll just bearcrawl all day long as Chitwood must imagine me.  Thanks to each of you who help make me better each time I post or get fed through some second and third F events.

Can’t wait until I Q next, will there be bearcrawls???  Hopefully Chitwood is there to find out!
