MOLESKINE:  Banned

In staying with the PFT running theme for today Your Humble Correspondent (YHC) had thought, “maybe I’ll sing some old Army cadence’s as we box trot that first mile.  So I ran a few through my head:

“Up jumped the monkey from the coconut grove

He was a mean mother….”

                >>> Nope, better not sing that one

“I wish all the ladies were bells in a tower,

And I was a hunch back, I’d bang ‘em every hour….”

           >>> Not that one either

“Momma and Poppa lyin’ in bed

Momma rolled over and gave…”

    No Image needed or wanted

Mmmm-no

Well, I took the dog on a walk and kept thinking of all the songs we sang 100 years ago and came to the conclusion that it was no wonder we were so screwed up.  Almost all the songs we sang back then have been banned for use in today’s military.

As I rose early Sunday morning for a long run my head cleared and I recalled one:

“Up in the morning at the break of day, work so hard we never play

Run through the jungle where the sun don’t shine and all I do is the double time

Up in the morning before the break of day, I don’t like it no way

Eat my breakfast too darn soon, Hungry as hell by noon

Went to the mess sergeant on my knees, I said mess sergeant, mess sergeant, feed me please

Mess sergeant said with a big old grin, If you want to be airborne, you got to be thin.”

Yea, that one would do.

Got me to thinking of some of the other things of my youth that are banned now; Porky Pig (speech impediments), Speedy Gonzales (sterotype), Pepe Le Pew (womanizer), Elmer Fudd and Yosemite Sam (angry NRA members), Foghorn Leghorn (big cock).

I’m sure there are others that have found themselves hunted by the PC-Police to the point of extinction.

I do hope we, as a nation, don’t lose our somewhat indecent or poor tase as we sing and joke around.   For if we do…..what will become of Scout?

Aye!
